Staff Shop is proud to partner with Tempo Toronto, Canada’s first WNBA team, to find an enthusiastic and physically expressive Mascot Performer who will help bring the excitement of professional women’s basketball to fans across the country.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in front of large audiences, loves engaging with communities, and wants to be part of a historic moment in Canadian sports. As the face (and personality!) behind the Tempo mascot, you will play a key role in delivering high-energy entertainment at games, appearances, and community events throughout Canada.
What You’ll Do
Event Performance & Fan Engagement
- Perform as the official Tempo mascot at all home games, appearances, and special events across Canada during the preseason, in-season, and off-season.
- Create unforgettable fan experiences by engaging audiences of all ages with high-energy entertainment and interactive crowd participation.
- Execute choreographed routines, halftime or timeout skits, and promotional segments in collaboration with the game presentation team.
- Represent Tempo Toronto at community outreach events, sponsor activations, and media appearances, helping grow the team’s fan base and presence nationwide.
- Maintain full character integrity to uphold brand standards and deliver immersive fan experiences.
- Assist with mascot costume care, including inspections, coordinating cleaning, and reporting maintenance needs.
- Represent the Tempo brand with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times.
- Collaborate closely with game presentation and marketing teams to bring creative entertainment ideas to life.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to run, jump, dance, and navigate stairs for extended periods.
- Comfortable performing in a mascot costume for long durations in varying environments.
- Ability to lift and manage costume components and props as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mascot performer, professional dancer, or similar entertainment role preferred.
- High-energy personality that brings excitement, positivity, and great vibes to every Tempo event.
- Basic tumbling or gymnastics skills (cartwheels, flips) considered an asset.
- Ability to play basketball is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with game presentation or live sports entertainment is preferred.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during the Tempo season.
- Willingness to travel across Canada for national appearances and events (not guaranteed)
