An accounting analyst is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of an organization, analyzing financial transactions and financial statements, and resolving account discrepancies. They assist with creating financial statements and documentation. Accounting analysts interpret financial data by consolidating account transactions, performing account reconciliation, and managing account receivables. They may also be tasked with creating reports or presentations that summarize the results of their analysis.
The Accounting Analyst will:
- Perform accounting closing duties with focus on specific business operations departments or sporting operations departments
- Create, monitor and post accruals and journal entries
- Perform general ledger and fixed asset accounting
- Coordinate reconciliation of sub ledger accounts and general ledger
- Prepare analyses and projections based on financial data from ticketing sales, corporate sponsorship sales, and other departments
- Assist forecasts, working with business leaders to gather information and assist with monthly financial reviews during the forecast period
- Review actuals vs. forecast and/or budget to identify unexpected overages
- Review year over year spend to assist with budgeting for business leader review meetings
- Take notes through financial reviews, research miscoding, correct entries related to variances, and forecast those variances
- Ensure all deadlines and schedules are met on time and accurately
- Identify areas for improvement, including process improvement, efficiencies, and automation. This includes utilizing excel formulas to reduce time spent in analysis and manual efforts to maintain excel files
- Review processed accounts payables and receivables to identify errors, miscodings, and other improvements ahead of the month-end close process
- Document workflow, procedures, checklists, and policies for assigned tasks
- Confirm and abide by all internal procedures, policies and regulatory guidance
The ideal candidate has:
- Bachelorβs degree in finance, accounting
- 3+ years of accounting and finance experience, specifically with experience in financial analysis
- Ability to utilize independent judgment in establishing the accuracy and reasonableness of information
- Proficiency in MS Office applications plus MS Excel. Functions include: sumifs, vlookup, hlookup, pivot tables, data subtotals. Power pivots, goal seek / data validation a plus.
- Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to share knowledge and information at different levels of the organization
- Must be customer friendly and focused with strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to successfully resolve and manage conflict

This role is primarily based at our Falls Church, VA office. Our front office team follows a hybrid arrangement.
