Position Overview

Girls Unite is seeking a dynamic and experienced 11v11 Director to lead the development and oversight of our U13–U19 teams. This role is ideal for a passionate educator-coach who excels at guiding both players and coaches, implementing a modern curriculum, and strengthening a unified style of play throughout the upper age groups.

The 11v11 Director will collaborate closely with the Girls Unite Director of Coaching, coaching staff, and families to ensure exceptional learning environments, meaningful competitive experiences, and a cohesive pathway from middle school to college-preparatory play.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Program Direction

  • Oversee all 11v11 age-group teams, coaching staff, and seasonal development plans.
  • Implement and evolve the club’s style of play, training methodology, and curriculum across U13–U19.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, guidance, and evaluations for 11v11 coaches.

Player Development

  • Build and execute age-appropriate training cycles focused on technical precision, tactical understanding, physical literacy, and mental resilience.
  • Support player evaluations, placements, and long-term development plans.
  • Offer constructive, consistent feedback to players and families.

Program Operations

  • Play a key role in tryouts, talent identification, and recruitment.
  • Assist with coordination of leagues, tournaments, showcases, and travel.
  • Collaborate with club leadership on program growth, strategic planning, and community initiatives.

Culture & Community Engagement

  • Uphold and model the Girls Unite mission, values, and commitment to positive coaching.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment for girls and young women.
  • Communicate openly and professionally with coaches, players, and families.

Qualifications

  • USSF D License minimum (B License or higher preferred); or equivalent international certification.
  • 3+ years of coaching experience in competitive youth soccer, specifically within 11v11 formats.
  • Strong tactical knowledge and experience designing long-term development curricula.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to advancing girls’ and women’s soccer.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting players through the college recruiting process.
  • Background in coach education or program-building.
  • Familiarity with San Francisco’s soccer ecosystem. (would be a plus)

Compensation

Competitive and commensurate with experience. Compensation may include coaching stipends, hourly training wages, and/or an administrative salary depending on role structure.
