LOVB San Francisco Volleyball is League One Volleyball's ninth team, proudly representing the Bay Area and set to play its inaugural season in 2027. The organization is shaping a new vision for professional sports, emphasizing elite competition, community engagement, and the advancement of women’s volleyball. One of the most decorated ownership groups in history with more than 30 Olympic medals, and multiple world and national titles, LOVB SFs ownership group is women-led and barrier-breaking across support, business and culture.
We are seeking a Social Media Manager who lives and breathes volleyball and understands how to translate the energy of the sport into culture-driving content. This role will lead day-to-day social strategy, content creation, community engagement, and growth across all platforms.
This person must have deep knowledge of volleyball, from rules and rotations to player culture and the broader women’s sports landscape in the Bay Area.
This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with brand, ticketing, partnerships, and community goals
- Build a distinctive digital voice for LOVB SF that reflects our ambition and Bay Area identity
- Drive audience growth, engagement, and conversion to ticket sales and merchandise
Content Creation
- Lead content ideation, planning, and execution across Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms
- Capture and edit short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, behind-the-scenes, athlete storytelling)
- Translate volleyball moments (big plays, strategy, player personalities) into culturally relevant content
- Develop series concepts that highlight athletes, community impact, and the club-to-pro pathway
Volleyball Expertise
- Accurately and creatively explain game moments, rules, strategy, and player performance
- Create educational and hype-driven content that resonates with volleyball players, coaches, and fans
- Stay current on trends in professional volleyball, collegiate volleyball, and youth club culture
Community & Culture
- Engage authentically with fans, athletes, youth players, and Bay Area sports communities
- Amplify partnerships and local collaborations
- Support live game coverage and real-time storytelling during matches
Analytics & Optimization
- Track and analyze performance metrics
- Use insights to optimize content strategy and drive measurable growth
- Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations
Qualifications
- 3–6+ years experience managing social media for a sports team, league, or sports brand
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of volleyball is required (playing, coaching, working in the sport, or deep professional familiarity)
- Proven ability to grow and engage a sports-focused audience
- Experience shooting and editing short-form video content
- Strong copywriting skills and a distinct digital voice
- Ability to thrive in a startup, build-from-scratch environment
- Willingness to work nights and weekends during season
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $80,000. Actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors, including experience, skills, and scope.
