We are seeking a welcoming presence to support our youth basketball programming at the BECU Storm Center for Basketball Performance. This is a part-time ~20 hour/week seasonal position with shifts primarily in the evenings. This role has consistent evening scheduling through the first week of June and event based opportunities throughout the summer. In-person attendance at the BECU Storm Center for Basketball Performance is a requirement for all shifts.  

Requirements

  • Facilitate check in and check out processes for Jr. Storm events. Ensure that all participants are accounted for and briefed on pertinent information. Welcome parents/athletes and ensure that their time in the building is safe, fun, and secure. 
  • Monitor entrances when unlocked for check-in times and follow security protocol for admitting any guests. 
  • Communicate with parents, coaches, administrators, and athletes of all ages.  
  • Familiarize yourself with the Jr. Storm programming and be able to answer general questions about each day’s activities or program information.  
  • Administer facility oversight and intercom responsibilities during shift. 
  • Be welcoming, friendly, and reliable. Communicate with necessary vendors and guests.   
  • Oversee completion of pre and post event checklists to ensure all spaces at the Center are returned to pre-event conditions. This can include helping set up water stations before events and checking that the courts have been swept and all Jr. Storm items have been properly stored after every event. 
  • Communicate any building questions or concerns to Operations team. 
  • Monitor guest activity to ensure security and safety protocols are met and be prepared to address any concerns with guests in a polite and professional manner. 
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency and safety protocols and be prepared to support as needed. 
  • Periodically check restrooms and waiting areas and perform light janitorial tasks if needed such as restocking or emptying overflowing trash. 
  • Support Jr. Storm operation and administration through clinic set up and other tasks at direction of Youth Basketball dept.  
  • Support operations department teammates as needed. Potential areas include facility operations, ticket operations, broadcast operations, special event management, office administration, and IT. 

Approximate schedule: 

Feb – T/Th, 5-8:30 

March – June, M,T,W,TH 5-8:30pm 

Occasional Saturdays – 3/21, 3/28, 5/9, 5/23 


Related experience: 

Customer service experience in dynamic environments, and/or experience in sports preferred.

The candidate must be a professional communicator, maintain a high level of confidentiality with materials and information, be extremely details oriented and organized, exhibit strong time management and project management skills, and remain a flexible team player who is willing to adapt to changes and tackle challenges as they arise. They will be an external representative of the Storm brand and culture, and must be able to connect with, communicate with, and navigate appropriately supporting a broad range of Storm stakeholders.


Compensation:  $21.30 per hour 

Technical Skills:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and be technologically fluent across many platforms and operating systems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 of pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  


Work Environment:  

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to construction work and maintenance activities, they may be required to work both indoors and outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
