Junior Varsity Softball Coach
Location: Triton High School
Reports To: Athletic Director
Job Overview:
Triton is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Junior Varsity Softball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes for the upcoming season. The JV Softball Coach will work closely with the Head Varsity Coach to foster a positive, competitive, and educational environment for the team. This position requires a passion for coaching, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student-athlete development both on and off the field.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Coach the junior varsity baseball team through practices and games while ensuring the development of student-athletes' skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Practice Planning: Develop and implement daily practice plans that promote skill development, physical conditioning, and team strategy.
- Game Strategy & Management: Assist in game-day preparations, including lineup selection, in-game coaching, and tactical decisions.
Player Development: Monitor and assess individual players' progress, provide constructive feedback, and foster growth both athletically and personally.
- Team Building: Cultivate a positive team culture focused on teamwork, discipline, respect, and work ethic.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Varsity Coach, other coaching staff, and athletic department to ensure alignment with overall program goals.
- Communication: Maintain open, consistent communication with players, parents, and school staff about team activities, expectations, and performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to school policies, safety protocols, and state athletic regulations during all activities.
- Seasonal Duties: Attend all team practices, games, and required events during the season. Assist with off-season training or camps as needed.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Head Coach.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching baseball, preferably at the high school level.
- Knowledge of softball rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work with young athletes and serve as a positive role model.
- Ability to manage a team, including discipline, motivation, and conflict resolution.
- Must be available to commit to the full season, including evening practices and weekend games.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in playing high school or college-level softball is an advantage.
- Ability to create a positive, inclusive team environment for athletes of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
