La Joya ISD seeks a committed and motivated educator-coach to serve as a High School Teacher and Volleyball Coach at Juarez-Lincoln High School. QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of coaching experience at the secondary level
- Experience as a head coach or lead assistant (preferred)
- Demonstrated success in team development and student engagement
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of TEKS and the ability to implement rigorous, standards-aligned instruction consistent with the LJISD Instructional Framework.
- Deep understanding of UIL regulations and athletic compliance
- Effective classroom and team management skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in the assigned content area in alignment with the LJISD Instructional Framework.
- Implement the LJISD Instructional Framework with fidelity to ensure rigorous, student-centered learning experiences.
- Develop and execute comprehensive lesson plans aligned to TEKS, district curriculum guides, and campus instructional priorities.
- Establish clear learning objectives and communicate high academic expectations for all students.
- Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction to support varied learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to promote student growth and accountability.
- Maintain an organized, structured classroom environment that maximizes instructional time.
- Implement proactive classroom management strategies that promote respect, engagement, and positive behavior.
- Integrate technology and district-adopted instructional resources to enhance student achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze data and strengthen instructional practices.
- Communicate consistently with parents and guardians regarding student progress and expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, accommodations, and required documentation in compliance with district policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to continuously improve instructional effectiveness.
- Support campus initiatives that promote academic excellence, character development, and student success.
Athletic Program Leadership
- Plan, organize, and implement the varsity volleyball program.
- Develop practice plans focused on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy.
- Analyze opponent tendencies and develop competitive game strategies.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Coordinator and coaching staff to align program goals.
- Mentor assistant coaches and support vertical alignment with middle school programs.
- Promote academic accountability and monitor student-athlete eligibility.
- Ensure compliance with UIL, TEA, and district regulations.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and offseason programs.
- Coordinate offseason conditioning and skill development opportunities.
- Manage volleyball equipment and instructional resources responsibly.
Compliance and Safety
- Maintain current CPR, AED, and concussion protocol certifications.
- Follow UIL, TEA, and district safety guidelines during all athletic activities.
- Monitor student-athlete safety during practices, games, and travel.
- Coordinate transportation and supervision for athletic events.
Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, and community stakeholders.
- Promote the football program through outreach initiatives and campus events.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in campus and district-level meetings and professional development.
- Support school initiatives aligned to district priorities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve student outcomes.
