Position Summary 
The Game Day & Event Operations Intern will play a hands-on role in producing an exceptional fan experience at Orlando Valkyries home matches. Working closely with the Manager of Game Day Operations & Community Relations, this intern will assist in all aspects of event preparation, in-game execution, and post-event wrap-up. From venue setup and run-of-show logistics to in-game entertainment and staffing coordination, this role offers a comprehensive look at how a professional sports organization brings game night to life. 

Key Responsibilities
 
Event Preparation & Logistics 
  • Assist with venue setup and breakdown for home matches, including signage, equipment, fan zones, and promotional displays. 
  • Help prepare run-of-show documents, scripts, and operational timelines for home events. 
  • Coordinate the inventory, transportation, and staging of game day materials and equipment. 
  • Support credentialing and access management for staff, media, and VIPs. 
  • Assist with pre-event walkthroughs and venue inspections. 

In-Game Operations & Fan Experience 
  • Support in-game entertainment elements including contests, fan activations, promotions, and halftime programming. 
  • Coordinate with guest services and ticketing teams to ensure smooth fan ingress and egress. 
  • Serve as an on-site contact for game day volunteers and part-time event staff. 
  • Assist with sponsor activation setups and ensure partner obligations are fulfilled during events. 
  • Help capture live content and documentation for post-event reporting. 

Staffing & Volunteer Coordination 
  • Help recruit, train, and schedule game day volunteers and event staff. 
  • Provide on-site direction and support to event team members during matches. 
  • Assist in post-event debrief documentation and staff performance notes. 

Administrative & Reporting 
  • Assist in tracking event performance metrics and compiling post-game operations reports. 
  • Maintain organized documentation of event logistics, vendor contacts, and operational notes. 
  • Perform additional game day and event operations duties as assigned. 

Team Culture & Collaboration 
  • Contribute to a positive and energetic office environment. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support team-wide initiatives. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a team-first attitude at all times. 

Qualifications
 
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business, Communications, or a related field. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed in fast-paced environments. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse groups of people. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods during events. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays — home match dates are required. 
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. 
  • Passion for live events, fan experience, and professional sports. 

Education & Experience
 
  • Currently working toward a degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field. 
  • Prior experience in event operations, venue management, or live entertainment is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience managing volunteers or coordinating event staff is a plus.
