LOVB San Francisco Volleyball is League One Volleyball's ninth team, proudly representing the Bay Area and set to play its inaugural season in 2027. The organization is shaping a new vision for professional sports, emphasizing elite competition, community engagement, and the advancement of women’s volleyball. One of the most decorated ownership groups in history with more than 30 Olympic medals, and multiple world and national titles, LOVB SFs ownership group is women-led and barrier-breaking across support, business and culture.

Position Overview

The Chief of Staff / Vice President of Strategy is a senior, cross-functional leader who works directly with the founders and ownership group to shape, operationalize, and drive LOVB San Francisco’s strategic vision. This role translates high-level strategy into execution across business operations, growth initiatives, partnerships, and investor engagement, and serves as the connective tissue across the organization, ensuring priorities are clear, initiatives are aligned, and execution is disciplined and measurable.

Core ResponsibilitiesStrategy Development & Execution

  • Partner directly with founders to develop LOVB SF’s short- and long-term strategic roadmap
  • Translate vision and strategic priorities into actionable plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes
  • Lead strategic planning cycles and quarterly priority setting
  • Build decision frameworks and business cases for major initiatives and investments
  • Identify growth opportunities across revenue, brand, fan engagement, partnerships, and community impact
  • Drive cross-functional alignment around key strategic initiatives

Executive Office Leadership

  • Serve as a thought partner and force multiplier to founders and ownership leadership
  • Prepare strategic briefs, memos, and decision materials for leadership meetings
  • Lead executive-level projects from concept through implementation
  • Ensure leadership priorities are resourced, sequenced, and executed effectively
  • Act as a central coordination point across leadership, ownership, and functional teams

Operationalizing Strategy

  • Turn strategy into execution by building implementation plans across departments
  • Establish operating rhythms, KPI dashboards, and performance tracking
  • Lead cross-functional working groups tied to strategic priorities
  • Identify execution risks early and drive mitigation plans
  • Improve organizational clarity, focus, and accountability

Investor & Ownership Relations

  • Support investor and ownership communications and reporting
  • Develop investor updates, board materials, and strategic progress reports
  • Help manage investor workflows, data requests, and strategic inquiries
  • Support capital strategy planning and related materials
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in strategic narrative and performance reporting

Special Projects & New Initiatives

  • Lead high-impact, ambiguous, and time-sensitive initiatives on behalf of founders
  • Evaluate new partnerships, market opportunities, and expansion concepts
  • Build pilot plans and launch frameworks for new programs or business lines
  • Support major partnership and platform initiatives from strategy through activation

QualificationsExperience

  • 8–15+ years experience in strategy, consulting, investment, sports business, startups, or high-growth organizations
  • Experience working closely with founders, executives, or ownership groups
  • Track record of turning strategy into operational execution
  • Experience with investor relations, board materials, or capital strategy preferred
  • Sports, media, or consumer brand experience is a plus

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000. Actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors, including experience, skills, and scope.
