The role is to provide assistance to Wrexham AFC Women and U19 players with high performance Strength & Conditioning services to help enhance performance and squad availability. This is an opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic and driven individual who can work collaboratively and holds strong values and demonstrates high standards.
 
What you'll be doing:
  • Assist in the delivery of individual and group strength and conditioning sessions to all U19 players ensuring all key physiological areas are covered and developed.
  • Assist Lead S&C Coach in working alongside the team manager to create and deliver training sessions to meet the demands of the game.
  • Assist in the management of injuries and rehabilitation of players to enhance the return to play pathway following injury in collaboration with the Lead U19’s Physiotherapist.
  • Assist the 1st Team and deliver U19’s varied on pitch sessions (warm-ups / CV conditioning / recovery) as required.
  • Assist in physical performance screening / testing and monitoring of players during pre-season and in season.
  • Providing reports and structured individual performance goals based upon individual needs alongside Lead S&C
  • Assist in improving performance through developing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programmes that reflect scientific principles (adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering and injury rehabilitation).
  • Assist the Lead S&C in the recording data using excel and other formats players adherence to Strength and Conditioning programs.
  • Work closely with the Lead S&C and Lead Physiotherapist to enhance and continue to develop injury prevention / performance / nutrition and recovery strategies.
  • Assist in the collection of data where and when necessary (GPS / HR / RPE).
  • Attend CPD and training sessions deemed appropriated by the Club.

About The Candidate

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Working towards BSc (Hons)/MSc (Hons) Sports Science/Strength and Conditioning
  • First Aid trained
  • Experience working in a development or performance sport environment
 
EXPERIENCE/QUALS DESIRED
  • Gym instructor qualification
  • Level 2 first responders for sport
  • Experience working in women’s/girls sport
  • Experience working in academy/youth football
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with players, MDT and coaches in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work in a high pressurised environment with a flexible approach to working hours and job role.
  • Attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
  • Adaptability to changing environment at short notice. 
  • Ability to set and maintain high personal and professional standards. 
  • Evidence of being a strong team player.
  • Competent use of IT programmes and online systems.
  • Ability to display key data visually post sessions.
