Career Center | Recruitment JOB DESCRIPTION Western Region Alpine Ski Racing Director CLASSIFICATION Year-round; Full-time FLSA Exempt REPORTS TO Alpine Development Director LOCATION Remote TRAVEL Some travel required, as necessary U.S. Ski & Snowboard is seeking a Western Region Director. SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE The Western Region Director is responsible for leading alpine programs in the Western Region, including the scheduling and facilitation of FIS and U.S. Ski & Snowboard competition, advancement of Western athletes in the Alpine pipeline, as well as promoting club development and coach education. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES ATHLETE EXPERIENCE Design and implement the regional calendar, working with the Western Alpine Competition Committee (ACC) and the regional community at large, to advance Western Region athletes within the Alpine pipeline
Plan and direct regional projects as outlined in the annual plan, to develop Western Region athletes for next level athletic exposures
Support national development initiatives, including training and competition projects
Work with U.S. Ski & Snowboard's Sport Education department to implement coaches education and club certification programs in the Region.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE Manage the Western Region staff in alignment with the national and regional development goals
Provide leadership to the Western Region ACC, facilitating the implementation of U.S. Ski & Snowboard programs throughout the Region
Develop and communicate regularly to members and clubs via email lists, newsletters, social media, the U.S. Ski & Snowboard website, the Alpine Competition Guide and the regional handbook
Respond to telephone and email inquiries in a timely fashion
Provide a high-level presence for U.S. Ski & Snowboard at regional and national events
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE Oversee all Western Region accounts
Prepare the annual regional budget
Ensure all projects are reconciled in a timely manner
Manage all regional activity within the planned budgets

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE College degree required
Proven leadership, management, and administration skills
Ability to work in a team environment with diverse stakeholders
Effective verbal and written communication skills
U.S. Ski & Snowboard L300 Coach Education certification preferred
Experience running Alpine competitions and projects
Working knowledge of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine program and pipeline
Computer skills in email, word processing, spreadsheet applications
