    Title:  Varsity Volleyball Coach

     

    First Practice: On or before August 3rd 

                               Out of season begins � April 6th and ends May 16th

     

    Description: Fairfield is seeking our next Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach.  This person will be directly responsible for the varsity team, along with indirect responsibility for the JV and Freshmen teams. 

     

    We expect our Head Coach to be a team player.  We expect this person to work with other programs and share athletes with other programs.  For our volleyball program to have success, we need players who also play winter and spring sports.  We expect this person to help those winter and spring teams and share the athletes.

     

    We expect our Coach to promote academics at Fairfield.  We expect our players to be student athletes:  students first and athletes second.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Solid knowledge of volleyball rules and skills and the ability to coach those skills
    • Exceptional leadership skills
    • Be seen in the community as a strong leader/role model to our student athletes
    • Previous experience in volleyball
    • Ability to motivate players
    • Attention to detail
    • Must have excellent communication skills
    • Be able to assist players who have a desire to play at the next level.  However, the coach must be realistic about the abilities of the athletes and help guide them to the best place for success.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for instructing players during practice and games
    • Teaching players the rules of the game
    • Studying the skills and abilities of the players to maximize performance
    • Developing ideas to optimize performance
    • Creating strategies for the team, instructing the players, and providing mentorship
    • Ability to make decisions under pressure
    • Ability to develop winning play strategies
    • Study game film using tools such as HUDL to have our players be prepared for the opposition
    • Strong discipline in the program
    • Teach lifelong skills
    • Work closely with the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams as well as provide guidance to youth teams and coaches
    • Training assistant coaches

     

    Requirements:

    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Have at least a high school diploma or GED
    • Must complete 5 mandatory online NFHS Learn courses prior to the first practice
    • Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check

     

    Compensation:

    • Competitive pay depending upon experience 

     

    Reports to:  Athletic Director
