Summary
The Oxford Area High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our coaching staff as a Softball Assistant Coach. This position is designed for someone who can support the head coach in developing student-athletes both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for our players. The candidate will assume the role of JV head coach.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions, game strategies, and player development programs.
- Provide individual and group instruction to players to improve their skills, techniques, and overall performance.
- Help manage team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and scheduling.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players.
- Monitor and assess player performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Assist in the recruitment of new players and promote the softball program within the school and community.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to ensure the well-being and academic success of student-athletes.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, district regulations, and state athletic association guidelines.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching softball at the high school level or above.
- Strong knowledge of the game, including rules, strategies, and player development techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the season.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- A valid background check and clearances as per school district policy.
