SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The purpose of the US Ski and Snowboard Sports Medicine Department is to support the vision of making the United States of America the best in the world in Olympic skiing and snowboarding. We strive to do this by providing athlete medical management both in health and in return from injury, safety in event organization and equipment. In this respect, the primary role of this position is to oversee the management and coordination of athlete care with respect to all medically related issues for named athletes on their respective team while utilizing outside expertise and rotational support when necessary.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide athlete treatment / rehabilitation services

On hill coverage of all training and competitions as determined by the team schedule

Documentation, communication, and facilitation of athlete medical management

Extensive international travel

Assisting with insurance claims surrounding injuries

Coordination with staff and volunteer providers

Participation in sports medicine special projects pertaining to injury, risk mitigation, and performance medicine

Administrative responsibilities include assisting with insurance claims surrounding injuries, injury updates, coverage at the Center of Excellence when needed, attendance of required educational activities, participation in Medical/High performance meetings and additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA Certification Board) or Licensed Physical Therapist with background in sports injuries, athletic training, and injury management

Three to five years of team sport or elite athlete experience post licensure

First Aid and CPR certified, acute injury management experience

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with coaches, staff, athletes, physicians, and athlete management personnel as needed to fulfill the contracted scope of services.

Excellent manual skills for athlete recovery and rehabilitations

Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently and effectively in high pressure/time sensitive settings

Participate in all U.S. Ski & Snowboard team staff and medical staff meetings

Restock medical kit

Assist in preparation, organization and execution of team preparticipation physicals annually

Ability to ski and snowboard is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
