ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Women & Girls Hockey Development will champion Women’s & Girls hockey development initiatives, designing, leading, and executing the Canadian Women’s development pathway, including strategies related to Players, Coaches, and Officials alongside the VP, Hockey Development. This critical role will additionally support the VP, Women’s & Girls’ Hockey to ensure the vision and recommendations from the 2025 Women’s and Girls’ Discussion Paper are achieved, and Hockey Canada is on track to realize more than 170,000 girls are playing Hockey in Canada by 2030.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL MISSION OF HOCKEY CANADA

  • Design, deliver and support the development and execution of the Canadian (women’s) Development Model.
  • Provide expertise towards the development of educational and technical tools for coaches, officials, and players.
  • Identify communication channels with the National Women’s Team, ensuring seamless visibility of long-term Women & Girls Game Plan, while offering opportunity for collaboration, participation and alignment (ie. Integration into NWT Summer camps & Championships).
  • Collaborate with National Team Scouting & Development to ensure seamless alignment and connectivity with grassroots development, programming and High-performance goals; pond-to-podium-to-professional.
  • Collaborate with Next Gen to ensure women & girls are represented and supported in programming (ie. Gold Medal Pathway)
  • Lead Creating Coaches, We Are Coaches, We Are Coaches HP1 and BFL Women in Coaching Award programs ensuring they continue to grow YoY, driving incremental women’s coach leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with the member engagement department to advance working relationships with Members and LHA’s – both on-site and remotely.
  • Work as a critical link with member branch representatives in the areas of women’s & girls’ programming, player development, coaching and officiating, providing support and resources as required to advance minor hockey streams.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with key women’s & girls’ stakeholders (internal- cross department and external- IIHF, W&G Leads/Members, LHA’s, USports, Partners etc.), developing effective two-way communication that promotes and encourages continuous dialogue.
  • In consultation with others in the organization, support the development of annual & long-term marketing plans to aid in the growth and retention of women’s and girls’ hockey programs; assist, lead and execute projects and programs focused on driving key objectives as identified in long-term strategy.
  • Manage and maintain the development of women and girls’ hockey educational & training materials and resources (i.e: Player Pathways, Female Canadian Development Model) ensuring they adhere to the needs of target audiences.
  • Collaborate with member engagement team (officiating, coaching, accredited schools, skills academies etc.) to develop connections and ensure women & girls are represented.
  • Provide administrative support throughout Female Hockey Policy Committee, Canadian Female Development Model team meetings, events and summits as required


EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED        

  • A post-secondary education in sport administration, education or relevant field of study
  • Strong working knowledge of the Hockey Canada/Membership structure
  • Knowledge of hockey development programming at the national, provincial and local level
  • Experience with growth and retention strategy implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated communication skills; ability to use a broad range of communication techniques to effectively communicate to varying audiences in a variety of situations
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to balance conflicting priorities to manage workflow, ensure the completion of essential projects and meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity; earns others’ trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Microsoft Programs, Outlook and ability to quickly adapt to new technology and easily acquire new technical skills
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
