We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Scouting & Basketball Administration reporting to the Assistant General Manager, to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Manager, Scouting & Basketball Administration will support the Assistant General Manager in the development and implementation of advanced evaluation systems and databases that optimize the franchise’s talent identification and roster construction processes. They will oversee the assessment and analysis of prospects and contribute to the organization's player recruitment, talent identification and roster construction strategy. This position will also support the evaluation and decision-making process for prospects by providing data-driven insights and analysis.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the evaluation process of prospective professional basketball players across the NCAA, FIBA and the WNBA with an emphasis on their skill, potential and fit within the team’s system.
- Analyze player performance data and game footage and produce in-depth scouting reports, evaluations, and recommendations to the Basketball Strategy leadership team.
- Create reports to identify talent strengths and weaknesses to align with team strategic goals.
- Lead administrator for scouting/player personnel software systems, including developing and managing comprehensive internal databases of prospects.
- Create and maintain detailed scouting calendars & assignments for WNBA, NCAA, and FIBA, and other relevant events for front office and scouting team.
- Collaborate with the front office, coaches, and analytics team to align evaluation strategies with organizational goals.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout the WNBA, NBA, G-League, FIBA, and NCAA landscapes in a professional manner.
- Assist in preparation and execution of trades, free agency and draft strategies by providing actionable insights to Basketball Strategy leadership team.
- Attend games and events globally to scout talent in-person.
- Manage freelance scouts and interns as necessary and assigned by front office.
- Develop and deliver scouting reports on opposing teams and players in collaboration with basketball data analyst and analytic team.
- Analyze league-wide transactions to provide basketball strategy insights and recommendations to front office.
- Monitor trends and developments in the basketball industry to identify potential opportunities for the organization.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Sport Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management or a related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience working in a sports or sport media organization required.
- WNBA, NBA, G-League, NCAA or FIBA experience required.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization is preferred.
- Highly organized self-starter with meticulous attention to detail, time management and flexible in approach to projects and problems, resourceful, and works well in a face-paced environment.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills; can clearly communicate within a cross-functional work environment.
- Valid passport and ability to travel globally for weeks at a time.
