Here's a summary of responsibilities: The Manager of Data Architecture & Engineering (DAE) is responsible for leading the architecture roadmap and delivery of the organization's enterprise data infrastructure, including scalable data systems, data integration pipelines and APIs, and the enterprise data warehouse. This role ensures the reliability, accessibility, and actionability of data by overseeing the design and development of technical solutions that integrate data across platforms and support reporting, analytics, and operational use cases. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in data architecture & engineering, a strong understanding of modern data platforms, and the ability to align strategic priorities with scalable, efficient, and secure systems. This leadership role is critical to the organization's ability to deliver high-quality data infrastructure, optimize system performance and cost, and drive forward the enterprise data strategy. The Manager will collaborate cross-functionally with business and technical teams, ensuring alignment, transparency, and execution across evolving priorities.

Enterprise Architecture & Technical Strategy
• Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap for enterprise data architecture and engineering.
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines, integrations, and services.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the enterprise data warehouse and related backend systems.
• Support the evolution of enterprise data capabilities through modern data engineering practices.
• Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuously evolve architecture practices.
• Contribute to and align with the organization's broader technology vision, working closely with enterprise leaders to ensure teams efforts support long-term transformation goals.
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team responsible for data integration, data engineering, and data infrastructure.
• Oversee team planning, workload distribution, goal setting, and performance evaluation.
• Foster a collaborative team culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Hire, manage, and develop team members, ensuring technical proficiency, efficient performance, and collaborative engagement, while providing coaching, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.
• Align team activities with enterprise goals and digital technology strategies.
Operations, Optimization & Governance
• Lead the deployment, change control, and operational maintenance of data systems integrations, and APIs.
• Optimize data infrastructure for scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and security.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency across integrated systems and platforms.
• Serve as the owner of enterprise technology contracts, overseeing vendor relationships, renewals, compliance, and alignment with organizational needs and budget.
• Make strategic buy-versus-build recommendations and lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and SLA enforcement, while cultivating new partnerships, optimizing existing contracts, managing maintenance renewals, and ensuring efficient use of the USOPC's resources.
• Manage architecture and data strategy execution, including budget planning, resource allocation, and operational processes.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline processes, reduce turnaround times, and deliver high-quality service to internal partners.
• Create and monitor service level agreements and key performance indicators or metrics
• Ensure adherence to organizational design and engineering standards, meet user requirements in product delivery, and address business needs by designing and implementing effective solutions, while maintaining best practices and standard processes across the team.
• Lead the organization's data governance strategy, including frameworks for data ownership, standards, quality, and stewardship in partnership with business and technical stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align data solutions with organizational needs.
• Drive communication and alignment across departments for system requirements, priorities, and implementation plans.
• Support organizational change management related to new data systems, tools, and practices.
• Represent the team in enterprise-wide planning for data platforms, tools, and reporting infrastructure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
• Master's degree a plus
• 7-10 years of IT experience with increased responsibility of IT roles
• 2-5 years of project leadership/management experience; experience managing application development, data, and/or integration initiatives
• 2-5 years managing Microsoft technologies (C# ASP, HTML, .Net, SQL)
• 2-5 years leading CRM projects (Salesforce)
• 2-5 years leading Data Warehouse and/or Data Lake projects (SQL, Snowflake)
• 2-5 years leading Integration platform projects (Data Cloud, Mulesoft, Boomi)
• Experience managing a software development life cycle
• Experience in small/mid-sized IT groups with fast-paced, multi-tasking, and multi-role efforts
• In-depth hands-on experience in Microsoft Enterprise solutions including On-Prem and Azure hosted server environments and other Cloud Hosted solutions
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Focus on team member development
• Ability to understand and communicate complex technical aspects in appropriate terms to the business units and the technical team

Here's some more information you need to know: Hiring pay range $125,000 - $135,000 per year. This Full-Time, Exempt, Temporary, position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
