Athens, West Virginia, Concord University, an NCAA Division II institution and proud member of the Mountain East Conference, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head Women’s Wrestling Coach. This 10 month position supports the University’s educational mission by providing strong leadership, high quality instruction, and sustainable program development within Women’s Wrestling.

The role places a strong emphasis on recruiting, mentoring, and developing qualified student athletes who demonstrate excellence both academically and athletically.

The Head Women’s Wrestling Coach will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all phases of a competitive Division II Women’s Wrestling program, including program administration, athlete development, and overall program strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

*Supports the University’s educational mission by overseeing the instruction and competitive development of student?athletes in wrestling.

*Recruits qualified student?athletes for the program at both regional and national levels.

*Provides technical instruction and coaching in wrestling methods, strategies, and performance.

*Recommends student?athletes for scholarship consideration based on established criteria.

*Plans and manages practice schedules and competitive events throughout the season.

*Coordinates team travel logistics for practices, competitions, and related activities.

*Transports and supervises student?athletes during travel to ensure safety and compliance.

*Trains, mentors, and oversees assistant coaches to support program operations.

*Manages the program’s budget responsibly, including donor engagement and financial development efforts.

*Ensures full compliance with University, Mountain East Conference, and NCAA regulations in all program activities.

*Performs additional duties assigned by the Athletic Director to support departmental goals.

Education/Knowledge

Minimum Education

Bachelor's

Required Licenses/Certification

A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s preferred. Applicants must have coaching and Wrestling experience, with preference to those with collegiate experience.

Required Skills

Acquired knowledge of industry standards for equipment and the ability to manage student-athlete equipment.

Ability to engage with university and industry compliance and support services.

Ability to engage with donors and the community in fundraising and other promotional activities.

Exceptional leadership, communication and organizational skills.

An understanding of and commitment to adhering to all the policies, rules and regulations of Concord University, The Mountain East Conference and the  NCAA .

Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.

Ability to work mornings/evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

Ability to drive a personal or College vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis.

Ability to travel when necessary

Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
