TITLE: Head Women’s Volleyball Coach(50/50 split )
50% percent Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and 50% NCC employee
DIVISION: Athletics
SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Head Women’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for managing all aspects of the intercollegiate volleyball program, including recruiting, instruction, and coaching of student-athletes, as well as coordinating program-related activities. The coach must adhere to all rules and regulations established by Northwest Iowa Community College, the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY: This position is designed to combine head coaching duties with a complementary professional role based on the candidate’s strengths, experience, and qualifications. Possible additional assignments include, but are not limited to:
Instruction (teaching in an academic program)
Assist the Athletic Director for Compliance / Game Day Management
Assist with Sports Information Coordination
Other qualified areas aligning with the needs of the college and / or athletic department
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Experience coaching or playing volleyball at the high school, college, or club level
Bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science, health and wellness, community health and education, recreation services, or a related field
Previous experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
Valid Driver’s License
CPR / First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Education or Related Field
Commercial Driver’s License
Bilingual in English and Spanish Languages
Knowledge of NJCAA Compliance and Eligibility

PRIMARY COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Communicate athletics’ philosophy and goals with NCC administration, faculty, staff, student-athletes, and alumni
2.Maintain knowledge of NJCAA, ICCAC, and other governing bodies’ rules and by-laws
3.Collaborate with the Athletic Director to ensure compliance with the college, the ICCAC, and the NJCAA
4.Assist student-athletes with eligibility requirements and compliance paperwork
5.Supervise daily operations of athletics including, but not limited to scheduling transportation, facilities, eligibility processes, student-athlete forms / information management, maintain records, press releases, etc.
6.Work with Athletic Director in scheduling of athletic facilities and events to ensure game day operations are in place, including officials, venue, and trainers
7.Work with the Athletic Director to arrange team schedules, including travel to games and practices
8.Develop, implement, and monitor volleyball budget
9.Recommend the selection and ongoing purchases of equipment and supplies
10.Work with college grant writer to secure grants that support equipment and programming
11.Collaborate with the advancement department on fundraising efforts. Connect with Foundations and the Athletic Department prior to starting fundraising activity.
12.Teach sport skills, condition, and motivate student-athletes to positive action, and utilize effective strategies to produce a successful student experience
13.Facilitate meetings at the beginning of each semester with coaches and student-athletes regarding participation expectations
14.Monitor student-athlete attendance, academic progress, and graduation
15.Oversee and monitor the conduct of student-athletes and, under the discretion of the Athletic Director, oversee discipline if necessary
16.Collaborate with the admissions department and monitor recruitment needs; recruit a sufficient number of new student-athletes annually and retain current student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations through scouting, attending games / tournaments, and home visits
17.Provide statistics and reports to the Athletic Director, Region XI, the ICCAC, and the NJCAA when needed
18.Direct all aspects, areas, and components of the volleyball program
19.Plan and manage all in-season and off-season training, including workouts, practices, scrimmages, games and team communication
20.Represent the program at institutional functions and externally with media, agencies, students, parents, and the community
21.Collaborate with the Alumni Office to engage volleyball alumni in future seasons to further support the program
22.Support the mission and vision of NCC by promoting student success, a culture of success, and community engagement
23.Be familiar with NCC policies and procedures
24.Maintain an effective, competitive volleyball program
25.Demonstrate problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
26.Capable of gathering facts, analyzing data, and justifying decisions
27.Mediate conflicts among colleagues, direct reports, and student-athletes
28.Work with custodian and maintenance staff to insure facility cleanliness, equipment, and building maintenance, and event preparations
29.Work with the Marketing Department and team to support marketing / advertising campaigns including print ads, radio ads, flyers, and social media campaigns
30.Advocate for NCC and promote the NCC volleyball program in the community
31.Perform other duties as required by the Athletic Director

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
1.Occasional exposure to blood or bodily fluids and to hazardous chemicals. Work is expected to be confined to indoor activities with the exception that the individual may be required to go to other parts of the campus or do errands away from campus, all of which require exposure to the outdoors. It is not expected that this will require exposure to situations, which would be considered physically hazardous.
