Stephenville, Texas, The Head Women’s Soccer Coach leads Tarleton State University’s NCAA Division I women’s soccer program. This position plays a key role in program development, athlete recruitment, and team performance, while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. The Head Coach provides leadership in training, mentoring student-athletes, and supervising assistant coaches and graduate assistants to foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and respect.

Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Afterhours and travel required.

Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Strategy

Provide overall vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the women’s soccer program.

Develop and implement comprehensive short- and long-term plans aligned with institutional and athletic department goals.

Lead all aspects of game planning, tactical preparation, and player development philosophy.

Recruitment & Talent Development

Direct and oversee all recruiting operations, including identification, evaluation, campus visits, and scholarship management.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and academy coaches to build sustainable recruiting pipelines.

Ensure recruiting practices comply with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.

Coaching & Training

Plan, design, and conduct training sessions that promote technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.

Evaluate team and individual performance and provide consistent feedback to maximize competitive success.

Program and manage match-day preparation, lineup decisions, and in-game adjustments.

Scheduling of non-conference contests

Supervision & Mentorship

Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and support staff.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture for student-athletes and staff.

Support the academic achievement, leadership development, and personal growth of student-athletes.

Compliance lanning, equipment purchases, and resource allocation.

Maintain accurate documentation and communication with athletics administration.

Community Engagement

Serve as the primary representative of Tarleton State women’s soccer within the university and local community.

Promote program visibility through camps, clinics, public appearances, and media engagement.

Strengthen alumni and community relationships to support program growth.

Other Duties

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Athletics administration in support of departmental and program goals

Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Five years of soccer head coaching experience; seven years total soccer college coaching experience may be considered

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance standards.

Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.

Proficiency in video analysis and performance technology.

Preferred

Education and Experience

Master’s degree

Ten years Division I soccer coaching experience

Demonstrated success in recruiting and player development at the NCAA level.

Advanced coaching certifications (e.g., USSF, NSCAA).

Other requirements

Work is normally performed in a gymnasium or game field setting with extensive travel to/from away matches required, as well as extensive travel for recruiting.

Compensation nding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
