East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Head Women’s Soccer Coach! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
As the Head Coach, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable administering all aspects of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer program. You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Athletics Director to develop strategic plans to optimize the programs' budgeting, recruiting, and community impact. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your previous professional coaching experience with knowledge of NCAA Division II and PSAC compliance all while demonstrating exemplary leadership to student athletes through evidence-based practices centered around their growth to succeed both on the field and academically. To be successful in this role, the coach must effectively lead and develop student athletes, ensure strict compliance with governing rule and institutional policies, along with effectively managing the recruiting, budgeting and fundraising activities that support a competitive and sustainable program.
This is a full time 1.0 FTE position, the hours will be based on the season schedule. Evening, weekend, and travel are mandatory as required for this position due to the nature of the role. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.
What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
Lead, organize, and manage all facets of the women’s soccer program, including practices, competitions, scheduling, and supervision of student-athletes.
Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, PSAC, and University policies, including documentation and use of approved recruiting systems.
Supervise, train, and evaluate assistant and volunteer coaches in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all NCAA, PSAC, and University rules, including timely completion of required education, reporting, and documentation.
Manage program operations, including budgeting, equipment, facilities coordination, travel, and risk management in cooperation with Athletics staff.
Coordinate with athletic training, communications, facilities, and other campus partners to support safe and effective program operations.
Plan and implement fundraising activities, camps, and clinics to support program goals and grant-in-aid allocations, with required approvals.
Represent the University and Athletics department positively through community engagement, alumni relations, media interaction, and professional conduct.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
Bachelors degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the intercollegiate level or an equivalent combination of professional, collegiate, high school, or club coaching experience; women’s soccer coaching experience preferred.
Working knowledge of NCAA Division II, PSAC, and institutional athletics compliance requirements.
Experience with recruiting and student-athlete management systems, experience with ARMS or similar platforms preferred.
Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities in a highly regulated, deadline-driven environment.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Ability to travel and work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by the competitive season and recruiting activities.
Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
