Reading, Pennsylvania, Albright College, a vibrant and growing institution, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Head Coach to lead the start-up of its Women’s Ice Hockey program.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a program from the ground up, creating a foundation that will grow into a competitive force within NCAA Division III athletics. The Women’s Ice Hockey Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the program, including recruiting student-athletes, creating training plans, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development: Establish and develop the Women’s Ice Hockey program at Albright College. Build a competitive team that can eventually meet NCAA Division III standards in terms of performance and sportsmanship.
Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes to the Women’s Ice Hockey program. Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to attract high-caliber athletes to Albright College.
Training and Coaching: Design and implement effective training programs that emphasize technique, conditioning, and character development. Provide hands-on coaching during practice, competitions, and other team events.
Team Building: Cultivate a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters student-athlete development both on and off the ice. Encourage leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Facility Management: Work with our rink to ensure a healthy relationship.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III standards, as well as institutional policies and regulations related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and scholarships.
Program Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ice hockey program, including budget management, scheduling, assistant coach professional development, fundraising and coordination with athletic department staff and administration.
Community Engagement: Represent the hockey program within the Albright College community and the broader athletics community, promoting the team, recruiting efforts, and fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proven experience in coaching and/or competing at the collegiate level, preferably in ice hockey.
Strong recruiting experience and ability to build a team and a program from the ground up.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor student-athletes.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to the values of student-athlete development, academic success, and sportsmanship.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in coaching at the NCAA level.
Strong connections in the ice hockey community for recruiting purposes.
Ability to collaborate across departments to develop a cohesive and successful athletic program.
