Greensboro, North Carolina, Position Summary
Basic Function:
The Head Coach position will be responsible for all day to day operations of a college level program and conduct the program in compliance with all applicable NCAA, and Institutional rules and regulations. Heavy emphasis will be on recruiting qualified student-athletes to the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct all activities involved with establishing and running the Guilford College Sports program.
A majority of coaching duties will be teaching their respective sport to students. This coaching is expected to be in person.
Provide instruction and development for individual and team improvement, analyze athlete performance, and prepare student-athletes for competition.
Maintain positive and professional relations with students, athletes, alumni, and other constituents.
Monitor student-athlete academic performance to ensure academic success.
Recruit and retain student-athletes within compliance regulations and
academic admissions standards.
Coordinate all activities for home and away games, including team travel plans
transportation, and lodging.
Evaluate and purchase equipment as necessary.
Coordinate scheduling of practice and games with the facility manager.
Participate in fundraising and public relations activities.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the requirements of the position, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
Must be able to work in team relationships with diverse students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 3 years coaching experience or equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education, which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Strong and established recruiting skills are required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer competency skills (MS Word, Excel, email, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Knowledge of all applicable individual association rules and regulations
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
