Berea, Ohio, Baldwin Wallace University seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the inaugural Head Women’s Flag Football Coach. This coach will launch and lead BW’s 29th varsity sport beginning in 2026. The position oversees all aspects of the women’s flag football program, including recruitment and retention of student-athletes, practice planning, game strategy, skill development, academic monitoring, and the creation of a competitive and positive team culture. The head coach will play a critical role in building the program’s foundation and ensuring it reflects the mission and values of Baldwin Wallace University and NCAA Division III. This is a full-time, exempt position within Athletics. Essential Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:  The following outlines the essential functions of the position and is not to be considered a detailed description of all duties inherent in the position.  

Lead all aspects of the women’s flag football program, including coaching, player development, and competitive performance.

Recruit and retain student-athletes who will thrive academically, athletically, and socially at BW.

Design and execute practice plans, game strategies, and player training programs.

Promote a team culture focused on integrity, personal growth, and student-athlete well-being.

Ensure compliance with all institutional, Ohio Athletic Conference, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations.

Manage the program’s operating budget, equipment needs, and team travel.

Collaborate with athletic training, strength and conditioning, compliance, and academic support staff to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic and personal progress 

Engage in departmental, campus, and community initiatives, including fundraising, service, outreach, and alumni relations.

Maintain positive relationships with campus partners and serve as an ambassador for BW Athletics.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications (required):

Bachelor’s degree.

Ability to recruit and mentor student-athletes in a manner consistent with NCAA Division III philosophy.

Previous collegiate playing or coaching experience in flag football, football or a closely related sport.

Ability to lead, guide and be a positive role model for student-athletes

Ability to follow directions, be organized, and carry out assignments effectively

Understanding of  NCAA Division III, Ohio Athletic Conference and Baldwin Wallace University rules, regulations and guidelines

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse environment

Must be able to travel, and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Qualifications (preferred):

Master’s degree.

Previous collegiate coaching experience.

Demonstrated success in recruiting and player development

Experience building or assisting with the launch of a new sport program.

Conditions of Employment

Exposure to unusual elements, heat, cold, loud noise, long hours, many people in a small area, physical activity such as running and carrying objects 20-100lbs

Must successfully complete a background check

Must maintain CPR/AED certification

Must be able to secure and maintain certification to drive university vans 

Must complete all required University training, including Working with Minors training

Compensation:
