This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $56,000 - $58,000. The position is classified as an AO. The AO salary band for all full-time, 12-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $43,880 and a maximum rate of $93,750. For benefit purposes only, the workweek is estimated to be 35 hours per week. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the head coach directs and manages a varsity intercollegiate sport program at the college and, in general terms, is responsible for practice and game preparation, as well as recruiting, retention and program administration within that program. In addition, head coaches are responsible for the proper utilization of facilities and equipment, scheduling of practices, athletic contests and designated special functions. Other duties will be assigned.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Planning, organizing and conducting all practices and contests.
• Hiring, supervising and evaluating all assistant coaches.
• Recruiting, enrolling, and retaining a diverse group of highly qualified student athletes for successful participation at the varsity athletic level.
• Advising and directing team members, captains, Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representatives and team managers.
• Preparing a schedule in conjunction with the Athletic Director that complies with departmental policies, goals, and objectives.
• Submitting all sport budget and equipment requests for approval prior to purchase adhering to department and college budget policies and procedures and schedule.
• Administering the sport budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession adhering to all college and professional sport association guidelines.
•Adhering to all NCAA, Centennial Conference, ECAC and sport rules and regulations.
• Monitoring and supporting the academic progression of team members, developing and enforcing team policies, and representing program to external constituencies.
• Attending all required NCAA, Centennial Conference, ECAC and departmental meetings.
• Coordinating team travel, housing and meals. Submitting a travel itinerary before every away event. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
Successful coaching and/or teaching experience.
Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills required.
Experience at the intercollegiate level as a coach and administrator preferred.
Valid driver’s license with two or less points.
