ROLE DESCRIPTION
Head Coach – Girls Volleyball 
This position offices in-person, on campus 
ROLE SUMMARY 
A Head Coach of Valor Christian Athletics exists to prepare tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ within the platform of the sport. As a committed follower of Jesus Christ, the Coach will provide excellent leadership of the program including intentional development of the athletes’ faith in Jesus Christ and excellence in Christian Character, while instilling great work habits, and teaching, stressing and monitoring the primacy of Academics.
The Head Coach – Girls Volleyball is responsible for the strategic development and management of a world-class Girls Volleyball program. Success of this position will be measured by individual and team goals as well as program excellence. Valor Christian seeks to continually advance the passions and dreams of each student-athlete to compete at the highest level possible.

Provide Comprehensive Leadership and Ongoing Excellence of the Girls Volleyball Program 
  • Design, implement, and continuously evaluate a comprehensive Girls Volleyball program plan that encompasses in-season competition, off-season skill development and performance training, and long-term strategic growth to ensure sustained program success and visibility 
  • Oversee the holistic, year-round development of all Girls Volleyball athletes at all levels through tailored technical training, mindset coaching, film analysis, and individualized growth planning during both in-season and off-season periods with the end goal of all athletes experiencing sport as an act of worship to the Lord 
  • Establish unified systems of play, culture standards, and skill benchmarks to create a cohesive and progressive Girls Volleyball program across all levels 
 Provide Intentional Development of Athletes’ Faith and Christian Character 
  • Develop and execute a Spiritual and Character Development Plan
  • Be a positive Christian role model for all the student-athletes at the school
  • Actively foster relationships to establish team and coach buy-in.
  • Conduct proactive conversations and planning with coaches to further develop understanding and trust
Demonstrate Excellent “Follow”-ship and Leadership in sport and the Athletic Department 
  • Support and execute the Athletic Handbook, as outlined by the Athletic Director
  • Fulfill the mission, vision, core values, and distinctives of Valor Christian High School 
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for all student-athletes to grow athletically, spiritually, and academically 
  • Uphold Biblical values and be willing to be accountable to those values 
  • Use clear and compassionate communication 
  • Provide and participate in coaching development and discipleship 
  • In collaboration with Athletic Leadership, hire Girls Volleyball assistant coaches and play an active role in their development 
Partner Exceptionally with Community of Support Available in Valor Athletics 
  • Be committed to partnering with parents
  • Support athletes in being their best physically through the Valor Sports Science Department
  • Assist athletes and families in College Recruiting process with the Assistant Athletic Director - Athlete Development, when applicable
  • Serve as the leader of the Girls Volleyball summer camp programs
  • Know and understand CHSAA rules and regulations with Director of CHSAA Compliance
  • Be a contributing member of the Valor Coaches Association by attending VCA events

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous outstanding experience in coaching Volleyball
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others at a high level and appropriately manage a large team of assistant coaches 
  • Desire to run efficient and effective practices while balancing the academic load of our student-athletes 
  • Experience in mentoring student-athletes 
  • Unwavering commitment and demonstrated success in integrating a faith-filled, Christ-centric process as the foundation of the program 
  • Must be able to relate with high school athletes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
POSITION TYPE: (Full-Time Coach) A: Student-facing position. Traditional school calendar. August – May. This position offices in-person, on campus 
HOURS PER WEEK: Full-Time, Exempt
