THE OPPORTUNITY
Wilbraham & Monson Academy (WMA) seeks an energetic and experienced Head Coach for Girls Soccer to take the program to the next level of competition. This dual role combines coaching expertise focused on athletic recruitment and program development with comprehensive admissions support responsibilities. Contributing to institutional enrollment goals through family relationship management, administrative support, and general admissions activities with an emphasis on building a competitive soccer program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Girls Soccer Coaching Leadership
Serve as Head Coach and assume full responsibility for the organization and administrations of the girls’ soccer program.
Prepare and conduct daily practices with comprehensive training programs, game strategies, and seasonal planning to develop competitive excellence.
Provide game day coaching and in-game leadership for all varsity competitions.
Responsible for team transportation to and from away games, maintaining required supervision and safety standards.
Lead, mentor, and empower assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive and high-performing program.
Program Development and Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive soccer program focused on returning the team to competitive prominence within the New England region.
Create appropriate practice plans, seasonal schedules, and long-term program development strategies.
Maintain knowledge of all league policies, procedures, and regulations
Work with the Director of Athletics to prepare practice and game schedules and coordinate facility usage.
Ensure compliance with league regulations, safety protocols, and institutional athletic policies.
Represent WMA professionally at all athletic functions and in interactions with parents, officials, and community.
Student-Athlete Development Support
Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.
Support student-athletes with the college admission process and provide guidance on athletic recruitment opportunities.
Monitor academic progress for all team members and support student-athletes in academic success.
Enforce discipline policies, ensure appropriate rules and regulations regarding conduct are followed, while emphasizing sportsmanship, healthy lifestyles, and character development.
Athletic Recruitment and Program Promotion
Recruit talented soccer players through athletic recruitment networks, showcases, tournaments, and relationship building with club coaches.
Provide off-season program support and maintain year-round engagement with current and prospective student-athletes.
Respond to requests from media and prospective student-athletes regarding program information and opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with club coaches, tournament directors, and regional soccer organizations.
Attend soccer games, showcases, tournaments, and recruitment events to evaluate and recruit prospective players.
Admissions Counselor and Parent Relations
Serve as primary liaison for parent relations and family engagement throughout the admissions process.
Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective families, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and effective manner.
Conduct interviews with prospective students and families to assess fit and provide program guidance.
Coordinate campus visits and ensure exceptional family experience during all campus interactions.
Serve as advocate for families within the admissions process while maintaining institutional standards.
Family Communication and Engagement
Develop and implement effective communication strategies to keep prospective families informed and engaged throughout the admissions cycle.
Provide ongoing updates and guidance to families about admissions timeline, requirements, and processes.
Coordinate with territorial counselors to ensure seamless family experience across different programs and markets.
Maintain accurate records of family interactions and communication in CRM systems.
Foster sense of community and belonging among prospective families considering WMA.
Event Coordination and Programming
Assist with planning and execution of admissions events including open houses, information sessions, and yield activities.
Coordinate family-focused programming and provide logistical support for recruitment events.
Support campus visit coordination and specialized programming for prospective students and families.
Evaluate event effectiveness and gather family feedback for continuous improvement.
Community Engagement and Outreach
Represent WMA at community events, athletic competitions, and educational forums.
Build relationships with local soccer organizations, youth programs, and community groups.
Participate in recruitment events and information sessions as capacity allows.
Support community outreach initiatives and partnership development.
Maintain institutional presence at regional athletic and educational events.
Professional Development and Collaboration
Participate in coaching education and professional development opportunities.
Stay current with soccer coaching techniques, recruitment strategies, and athletic trends.
Collaborate effectively with admissions team members and provide mutual support during peak seasons.
Synchronize seasonal responsibilities to balance coaching duties with admissions cycle demands.
Contribute to positive team culture and institutional mission advancement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years soccer coaching experience at high school, club, or collegiate level.
Collegiate level playing experience preferred.
Prior experience in admissions, customer relations, or the educational sector is desirable.
Athletic recruitment experience highly preferred.
Coaching Certifications:
Maintain current coaching licenses and certifications.
CPR/First Aid certification required.
Willingness to pursue additional coaching education and development.
Specialized Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of soccer strategy, training methodologies, and player development.
Knowledge of athletic recruitment networks, showcase events, and club soccer landscape.
Understanding of the independent school environment and student-athlete experience.
Familiarity with admissions processes and family engagement strategies.
