The Girls Academy League (GA) Head Coach is a key leader within the Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) high-performance player development pathway. The GA program represents ASA’s highest level of competitive play for female youth athletes. The GA Head Coach is responsible for fostering an environment of excellence, accountability, and growth while guiding players to reach their full potential both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Player Development
Plan and execute high-quality training sessions and matches aligned with ASA’s playing philosophy and GA standards.
Develop and execute session plans consistent with ASA’s curriculum, playing style, and tactical framework.
Provide individualized feedback to players to support technical, tactical, physical, and psychological growth.
Competition Management
Coach in Girls Academy League matches, showcases, tournaments, and other events, ensuring tactical readiness and performance excellence.
Scout opponents, analyze game footage, and implement effective strategies for individual and team success.
Manage player workload, recovery, and fitness to maintain peak readiness throughout the season.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a mentor and role model for players, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a growth mindset.
Collaborate with the Academy Girls Director and technical staff to uphold program standards and support player advancement within ASA’s pathway.
Participate in staff meetings, coach education sessions, and club-wide development initiatives.
Communication & Culture
Communicate clearly and professionally with players, families, and ASA staff to align on team goals and expectations.
Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes humility, respect, and accountability.
Represent ASA and the Girls Academy with professionalism at all times.
Time Commitment
The team has a comprehensive 10-month scope, including 3-4 training sessions per week throughout the year.
Weeknight and weekend availability is required.
Travel for regional and/or national events is expected.

Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at a competitive level, preferably with GA or other high-level club experience
Must hold a U.S. Soccer C License (or equivalent) or higher coaching certification; B License (or equivalent) or higher preferred.
Proven record of developing competitive teams and advancing players in high-performance environments
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships with youth, parents, and staff
Energetic, reliable, and passionate about youth development through sport
Physical Requirements:
The job may require the coach to function in high-activity indoor and outdoor sports venues and to be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees.
While performing the duties of this job, the coach may be required to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances.
The coach may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
