As a Finance Manager within our shared services team, you'll be a key advisor to up to three USTA Sections participating in our Accounting and Finance Shared Services Program. This is a unique opportunity to engage in all aspects of an entity working collaboratively with guidance from leaders, assisting in aligning financial resources with strategic goals, helping drive long-term financial planning, and assisting in promoting how operational outcomes can be tied to measurable financial metrics. You'll play a critical role in developing budgets, enhancing internal controls, and providing essential financial insights to management, Board members, and various committees.
Strategic Financial Partnership: Collaborate with Section(s) Executive team and Managing Director and Corporate Controller to align financial resources with strategic goals and program priorities for supported organizations.
Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop robust long-term financial plans and models, including scenario planning, and partner with business units to create organizational budgets that directly support strategic objectives.
Operational Finance Excellence: Oversee and support day-to-day accounting operations, executing timely monthly closes, and preparing accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP for sections and regions. This includes preparing and sharing information with the Board Treasurer for regular updates to the Board of Directors.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Maintain and continuously seek opportunities to enhance internal controls and optimize financial processes.
Board & Committee Support: Prepare and present financial materials for Board and committee meetings (Finance and Audit).
Budget Development & Oversight: Lead the development of budgets with Executive Directors and senior staff, and assist in crafting regional and departmental budgets.
Audit & Compliance: Provide comprehensive support for annual audits, including preparing and reviewing schedules and reports, and assisting the association's auditor. Ensure all required support for audited financial statements and tax filings are provided.
Financial Administration: Support and maintain relationships with partners (e.g., investments), and provide oversight and support for 401K, investment portfolios, and payroll.
Policy & Documentation: Periodically update accounting policies and procedures and support the organization's document retention policy.
Advisory & Review: Assist departments and Regional Presidents with monthly close reviews and provide guidance on business and compliance matters as needed.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA or MBA is a plus.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in public or not-for-profit accounting. Knowledge and experience with not-for-profit organizations is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Hyperion, Lawson, and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Understanding information technology is a plus.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong people management skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
Shared Services Acumen: A good understanding of Shared Services structures is a plus.
Passion for Tennis: A knowledge of or passion for tennis or sports is a plus.
