Summary
The Fastpitch Head Coach at Mossyrock Jr/Sr High School will lead and develop the school's fastpitch softball program for the upcoming season. This role requires a passionate and knowledgeable individual who can inspire and motivate student-athletes, promote teamwork, and foster a positive and competitive environment. The coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development, while ensuring adherence to school policies and league regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for players, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Plan and conduct regular practices, ensuring that all players receive instruction and feedback tailored to their individual needs.
- Prepare the team for competitions by developing game strategies, analyzing opponents, and making in-game adjustments.
- Organize and oversee all aspects of the season, including scheduling games, coordinating transportation, and managing equipment.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress, expectations, and any concerns.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes respect, discipline, and a love for the game.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and promote a balanced approach to academics and athletics.
- Ensure compliance with all league rules and regulations, as well as school policies regarding athletics.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and trends in fastpitch softball.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth and team success.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in fastpitch softball, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of fastpitch softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to commit to the seasonal schedule, including practices, games, and team events.
- Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
- A passion for teaching the game and developing young athletes both on and off the field.
