The 2024 acquisitions of Portland Thorns (NWSL) and the WNBA Portland expansion team represents a milestone for the city of Portland and places it at the epicenter of growth for women’s sports
THE ROLE:
The IT Director will advise, oversee and manage, in conjunction with our third-party IT services provider, all technologies for RAJ Sports Management including the Portland Thorns and Portland fire, including those being installed in RAJ Sports Management’s new Performance Center currently under construction in Hillsboro, OR.  This includes but is not limited to Systems, Networks, Phones, POS, AV & Broadcasting. The applicant needs to possess the ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment with changing work priorities. This individual will also possess solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with a proven ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple tasks in an efficient and timely fashion. The ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all partners.
WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO:
  • Direct project management of all technologies deployed during performance center construction
  • Collaborate and work with IT partners at Providence Park and Moda Center to ensure systems are operating properly for Portland Thorns and Fire games and events
  • Oversee and support all technologies in the new performance center upon completion
  • Maintain and support performance center communications & wireless technology (e-mail, phones, & internet)
  • Maintain and support all hardware, software & network devices for the performance center
  • Ensure systems throughout the performance center and stadium partner locations (i.e. ticketing, POS, AV & broadcasting) are operating
  • Create, implement and enforce technology policies and procedures 
  • Serves as staff-wide point of contact on IT related matters as well as point of contact with third-party IT partners
  • Provide excellent support for staff with technical issues
  • Maintains knowledge of development in the area of systems, networks, databases, hardware, POS, AV, Broadcasting & Production. Research new developments in technology for the performance center
  • Maintain accurate records of systems, software and hardware issues and service requirements
  • Establish and administer backup procedures for all systems
  • Work with vendors and service providers on support of stadium systems and service level agreements.
  • Must be able to communicate productively and professionally across all managerial levels
  • Conduct walk-throughs to ensure all systems are operational prior to and during events
  • Replacement of defective hardware before, during and after events
  • Utilizes logic and deductive reasoning to diagnose and solve complex problems
  • Hire, train, and oversee qualified IT staff to effectively support technologies
  • Set and maintain department budget
  • Projects and additional duties as assigned

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE ON OUR TEAM:
  • 5+ years’ experience in Information Technology. 
  • Any combination of education and training equivalent to possession of a Bachelor's degree that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. 
  • Congenial, friendly, service oriented and well organized
  • Flexible in scheduling and be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Possess excellent communication skills & has a desire to work with others in a team environment
  • Must have the ability to take direction give direction and be able to work under stressful situations
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Windows workstation and server setup, repair, monitoring and administration
  • Comfortable with Apple workstation and Apple Business Manager setup, monitoring and administration
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Understanding of VoIP and cloud-based phone systems as well as Mobile Device Management (MDM)
