The Professional Women’s Hockey League is seeking a highly organized and detail- oriented professional for the role of Director, League Operations to join our Hockey Operations department. This position reports to the VP, Hockey Operations and will be responsible for managing day-to-day administrative matters, including immigration and player visa requirements; monitoring Standard Player Agreement related matters and activities to ensure compliance with League regulations; and supporting key officiating and player safety functions. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of professional sports operations, particularly in hockey.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and track Standard Player Agreements to monitor compliance with applicable League rules and internal policies, including in connection with trade activities
  • Provide regular updates to the League’s finance department for salary cap compliance purposes
  • Serve as primary point of contact for immigration counsel, applicable government agencies and HR personnel regarding the immigration processes for players, coaches, and hockey operations staff, including to ensure that work permits and visas are timely obtained
  • Support the handling of player disciplinary matters, including the preparation of incident reports, hearing materials, and monitoring policy enforcement
  • Assist in developing and enforcing player safety protocols
  • Provide administrative support for officiating-related matters, including conducting game reviews to monitor officiating compliance with League standards, rules and policies
  • Support onboarding processes for players and team hockey operations staff, ensuring smooth transitions
  • Coordinate with appropriate team and League personnel to facilitate the handling of various player personnel matters, including with respect to disciplinary matters
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of League rules and regulations, including as dictated by the League’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with the PWHL Players Association

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:      
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in sports, entertainment, or law
  • Experience managing immigration filings and cross-border employment matters preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of salary cap systems, player contracts, and hockey operations structures
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Passion for professional sports and familiarity with the hockey landscape is a significant plus

COMPENSATION:
Annual Salary: The annual salary range for this role is $90,000-100,000 USD/ $108,000-120,000 CAD.

Position includes participation in all welfare, perquisites, fringe benefit, insurance, retirement and other benefit plans, practices, policies and programs, made available by the league as may be in effect from time to time.
