We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director, Business Development to join our team. In this high-impact role, you will support all facets of Business Operations with the Ticket Sales & Service department while playing a key role in broader department initiatives.

What You Will Do:

As the Director, Business Development for the Phoenix Suns, you will oversee a team of Business Development reps, driving revenue growth primarily through new full season equivalents but also group sales, plus suite and premium offerings. Reporting to the Vice President, Suite Sales and Service, you will lead and develop a high-performance sales team, maximizing revenue opportunities and exceeding targets through innovative campaigns. With a strong focus on fan engagement and exceptional service, you will create seamless experiences that elevate the value of our offerings. Collaborating with internal departments, you will help position the Suns as a leader in sports and entertainment. Your leadership will be key in achieving organizational objectives while expanding the team’s impact on ticketing and hospitality operations.

 Revenue Generation & Sales Execution:

  • Develop and implement innovative outbound sales strategies to drive new business across all ticketing products, including full-season, partial plans, group sales, and premium experiences.
  • Execute revenue-generating initiatives, dedicated sales campaigns and special events.
  • Leverage insights to identify key segments within market to drive lead acquisition to drive campaign effectiveness

Member Engagement & Customer Experience:

  • Design and implement best-in-class membership experience to enhance retention and increase renewal rates.
  • Lead member-exclusive benefits, events, and experiences that add value to season ticket members.
  • Develop personalized communication strategies to enhance customer relationships and engagement.
  • Collaborate internally to create memorable experiences for ticket members throughout the calendar.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to continuously enhance the fan experience.

Performance Management & Sales Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing sales and service team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Set and track individual and team performance goals, ensuring alignment with overall revenue targets.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development to elevate team performance.
  • Implement sales contests, incentive programs, and recognition initiatives to drive motivation and results.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, implementing best practices and innovative approaches to ticketing sales and service.

  • Proficiency in CRM platforms, analytics tools, and presentation software to track performance and enhance sales efforts.
  • Commitment to delivering a white-glove service experience, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term retention.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Flexible availability, including the willingness to work evenings, weekends, and select holidays as required for games and events.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sports management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of outbound specific sales experience within the sports and entertainment industry.
  • 4-6 years managing sales teams within the sports and entertainment industry.
