Delaware North Sportservice is hiring part-time Cooks to join our team at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. As a Cook, you will be a visible leader in a kitchen that nurtures your culinary talents and celebrates your creativity. You will review menus, prepare food, operate kitchen equipment, and uphold all health codes and sanitation regulations. We are hiring in all our culinary departments including concessions, club and suites.

Unit Description

Delaware North manages food and beverage services at Climate Pledge Arena, home of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and premier live music and entertainment. The 740,000-square-foot, renewable energy-powered building is the first net zero-certified arena in the world! Delaware North’s Climate Collective offers the most locally focused, sustainable menu in the sports and entertainment industry.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food to comply with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, ensuring proper food temperatures are maintained, food is stored correctly, the freshness and quality of all menu items, and packages all products to proper specifications
  • Keep workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Use waste control guidelines and record all waste on the spoilage sheet
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory in accordance with guidelines

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Previous back-of-the house food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes.
  • Basic math skills; ability to understand, calculate and follow recipe measurements and proportions.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and liquids. 
  • Ability to lift and carry large pans from ovens or freezers, weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle or operate kitchen equipment.
  • Standing and walking for the entire length of shift.
  • Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at the waist, bending and squatting.
  • Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops, and brooms.
  • Kitchen environment – noise levels may be moderate-to-high.
  • Works frequently in a hot and damp environment.
