About the Role

Monarch is seeking a highly driven and strategic Business Development Leader to join us as we accelerate growth across the women’s sports ecosystem. This individual will be responsible for building a high-quality pipeline, developing deep relationships with women’s sports rightsholders, and identifying opportunities that expand revenue and unlock innovative partnership models. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is naturally curious, and is motivated by redefining and shaping the future women’s sports.

Responsibilities:

Pipeline Development and Relationship Building

  • Build, manage, and execute a strong pipeline of prospective partners across leagues, teams, athletes, and brand categories.
  • Identify, engage, and develop relationships with key decision makers at potential clients.
  • Maintain ongoing touchpoints and nurture long-term relationship value.

Strategic Opportunity Identification

  • Identify and evaluate new revenue opportunities, partnership structures, business models, and platforms.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and potential entry points for growth.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine the company’s go-to-market strategy and partnership framework.
  • Evaluate vendor business models and identify opportunities to improve margins, operational efficiency, and partnership value.

Corporate Development and Deal Structuring

  • Lead the development of financial models and partnership economics for pitches and proposals.
  • Evaluate, assess, and recommend opportunities related to new categories, rightsholders, businesses, distribution channels, or platform capabilities.
  • Structure compelling and mutually beneficial deal terms that drive long-term value.

Partnership Growth and Innovation

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop pitch materials that clearly articulate value.
  • Bring an innovative lens to how to fuel the growth of women’s sports.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance partner offerings and expand existing relationships.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Operations to ensure alignment on partnership execution.
  • Translate partnership opportunities into actionable plans for internal teams.
  • Lead and shape sustainable, mutually beneficial vendor terms and deal structures across Operations and Finance.

Presentation, Communication, and Analysis

  • Develop and deliver high-quality presentations for prospective partners, rightsholders, investors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed analysis to support decision-making, partnership prioritization, and revenue forecasting.
  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally in all internal and external interactions.
  • Tracking and measuring key success metrics related to partnerships and corporate strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in Business Development, Corporate Development, Strategic Partnerships, or a related role.
  • Proven track record in building a pipeline, closing partnerships, and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong analytical ability with experience in financial modeling and evaluating partnership economics.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to assess unit economics, revenue share structures, and partnership ROI.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative vendor structures and recommend optimal paths forward.
  • Excellent communicator with exceptional presentation skills and comfort engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Highly proactive, self-driven, and able to operate with minimal oversight.
  • Passion for sports, with a deep enthusiasm for women’s sports.
  • Understanding of the sports business ecosystem is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, remote environment.
  • Location: Remote role, however must be located in CA, OR, TX, NY, NJ, GA, or FL.
