Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as an Assistant Varsity Girls Softball Coach at Gwinn Middle/High School. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to work closely with the head coach in developing the skills and abilities of our student-athletes, fostering a positive team environment, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport, a commitment to student development, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.

Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and games for the varsity girls softball team.
- Help develop and implement training programs that enhance athletes' skills and performance.
- Provide instruction on game strategies, techniques, and fundamentals of softball.
- Monitor the academic progress and overall well-being of student-athletes, ensuring they balance sports and academics.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Assist in the organization of team events, including fundraising, travel arrangements, and community outreach.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, schedules, and expectations.
- Enforce school and athletic policies and uphold safety standards during practices and competitions.
- Participate in coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably in softball or a related sport, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the game of softball, including rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the softball season.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, highly encouraged (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a college degree in a related field is a plus.
