SCHENECTADY, New York, Pay Status and Classification: This is a part-time, non exempt, 5-6 month position ($20-$25/ hour)

Supervisor: Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Position Purpose: Assist in the organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division III women’s basketball program in support of the mission and core values of Union College.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Coaching and Leadership: Assists with recruiting and retaining high achieving student-athletes. Mentors student athletes. Works to enhance the student-athlete experience through training, competition, and leadership development.

2. Program Oversight and Administration: Adheres to NCAA rules and compliance.

3. Team Development and Innovation: Contributes ideas, input, and support to the Union Athletics Department. Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of sport trends and innovations in playing and teaching.

4. Collaboration: Partners with campus stakeholders, such as Admissions to coordinate and organize campus visits for recruits, College Relations to assist in coordinating fundraising and alumnae outreach. Builds strong relationships with alumnae, fans, campus partners and the broader community. Connects student-athletes with academic and professional resources. Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. 

Previous collegiate coaching or playing experience preferred.

Possess solid organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to identify and attract outstanding student-athletes to Union College.

Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations..

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends is required.

Ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 30 lbs.) and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.

A valid New York State driver’s license is required.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni and fellow professionals.

Candidate must be able to successfully communicate and work with a diverse group of individuals.
