Canton, New York, St. Lawrence University is now accepting applications for a men’s and women’s assistant alpine ski coach. This is a full-time, 9-month, position. The assistant coach will be responsible for the following:
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide elite on-site instruction and coaching in races and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices
Provide support to student athletes competing at the upper level of collegiate skiing.
Communicate strategies to develop a race-ready mindset
Prepare film breakdown and analysis, and present analysis to team members
Plan and prepare for races
Contribute to strength and conditioning program, including one-on-one strength and conditioning work with student athletes
Provide support and encouragement to student athletes, including academic counseling and advising
Monitor academic progress of athletes
Recruit and retain highly talented athletes successfully, Research academic and athletic credentials
Build relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email, phone and one-on-one meetings
Organize and implement recruit visits
Understand NCAA rules, compliance, and laws
Ensure safety and well-being of student athletes
Serve as an effective role model for college-age students
Assist with day-to-day operations of the alpine ski program
Provide effective communication to head coach
Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members
Assist with the coordination of team travel
Attend and participate in department trainings pertaining to diversity, equity and inclusion
Position will have a secondary assignment within the department before the official start of the season and at the completion of carnival season. Assignments such as game management, ticket operations, or additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Previous experience coaching and or/competing at the collegiate level is highly desirable

Valid driver’s license required and must meet the University’s Driver Safety Policy requirements
Ability to travel for team practices, competition, and scouting in and out of state
Strong positive communication and interpersonal skills with all levels
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to excel as a member of a diverse community
