Evanston, Illinois, The Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach reports to the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and assists in all aspects related to the Women’s Tennis program This is a full-time benefits eligible appointment that is renewable on a contract basis.

Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Coaching
Assist the head coach in coaching and training Northwestern’s Women’s Tennis team; develop and conduct all in-season and out-of-season sessions including individual hitting sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Help with the psychological preparation of team in both pre-game and post-game, and develop motivational approach to practice and games.
Work to develop comprehensive knowledge of tennis in decision-making, handling authority and setting and meeting objectives.
Work with appropriate Northwestern University Department of Athletics and Recreation (NUDAR) staff in providing the student/athletes the skills, support, and resources to be successful at Northwestern.
Assist with on-court coaching during matches.
Administrative
Help with team travel specifically by being the liaison to our Anthony Travel Representative for air, bus, and mini-van travel arrangements for away meets and practices.
In cooperation with Compliance staff, maintain countable athletically related activity (CARA) logs and practice schedules; input all practice and playing schedules into Teamworks.
Support the Athletic Communications department and Marketing department in publicizing and marketing the tennis programs.
Work with team equipment manager to place yearly orders and organize equipment for team travel; collaborate with equipment manager for distribution of shoes and clothing.
Help with video match analysis.
Develop and maintain all statistical performance records for individual athletes and the team.
Assist with the organization of the annual fundraiser.
Recruiting
Assist with the recruiting for the tennis programs maintain database in ARMS, identify and correspond with qualified prospective student-athletes (mailings, phone schedule on-campus/off-campus visits and create itineraries; establish and maintain all files on prospective student-athletes for admissions; evaluate prospects off-campus throughout the year as allowed by NCAA rules.
Develop and maintain all recruiting documents and materials as deemed necessary and appropriate with adherence to rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Develop strong relationships with coaches all over the world.
Other
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Attend meetings, conferences, training sessions, community service events, etc. as required.
Report issues and concerns to the Head Coach and/or Sport Administrator and faithfully and diligently carry out other Department related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports in the Intercollegiate and Recreational programs.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Previous experience as a collegiate tennis coach.
Previous experience as a collegiate tennis player.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
Valid Driver’s License
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Willingness and ability to work, as well as travel, mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment and manage stressful situations
Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
Ability to establish engaging relationships.
