Job Summary
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Assistant Coach-Girls Volleyball is responsible for developing and leading a competitive and educational athletic program that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, character development, academic success, skill development, and student-athlete growth. The Coach will provide instruction, leadership, and supervision while fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices, training sessions, competitions, and team activities.
- Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, conditioning, and fundamentals appropriate to the age and ability level of student-athletes.
- Develop practice plans and game strategies that promote individual and team success.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, leadership, accountability, and good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
- Ensure student-athletes adhere to team rules, school policies, league regulations, and behavioral expectations.
- Promote the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Maintain a safe environment and enforce appropriate safety procedures during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
- Coordinate equipment, uniforms, facilities, and program needs as required.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and administration.
- Maintain attendance records, schedules, rosters, and other program-related documentation.
- Support recruitment, retention, and participation efforts within the athletic program.
- Attend scheduled games, tournaments, meetings, trainings, and school events.
- Represent the school and athletic program in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport or related athletic experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques, strategies, and player development.
- Ability to work effectively with high school-aged students in a structured and supportive environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire student-athletes while maintaining high expectations.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Background check and fingerprint clearance as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience coaching at the high school, club, collegiate, or youth level.
- Knowledge of CIF, league, and school athletic regulations.
- Experience developing athletes both competitively and academically.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders.
- Experience managing team logistics, scheduling, and program operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate sport-specific skills and techniques.
- Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively participate during practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move athletic equipment and supplies as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, depending on the sport.
Work Schedule
This position is for the 2026–2027 school year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) and may require afternoon, evening, weekend, and occasional holiday hours depending on practices, competitions, travel, and athletic events.
Compensation
Maximum allotment of $2,400. This equates to 120 hours at $20/hour.
