POSITION TITLE: JCMS Head Softball Coach

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree with a teaching license. Must be employed as a full-time teacher within Johnson County School System, attain employment with Johnson County Schools, or hold a valid Tennessee teaching license.

 

REPORTS TO:
Principal and/or Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Softball season and off-season work

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Lead the JCMS Softball program and be responsible for the oversight of the program and all related duties (stipend in addition to teacher salary).

• Coordinate with the Athletic Director, Principal, Supervisor, and JCHS Head Softball Coach to provide the best athletic opportunities for student-athletes.

• Develop and maintain a feeder program that prepares student-athletes for successful participation at the high school level.

• Work collaboratively with the JCHS Head Softball Coach to align program expectations, skill development, fundamentals, terminology, and overall program goals.

• Promote a positive culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, academic success, and student growth.

• Organize and supervise practices, games, conditioning, and offseason development activities.

• Teach and develop fundamental softball skills while fostering individual player growth and team development.

• Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.

• Effectively communicate with players, guardians, administration, and community stakeholders.

• Assist with the upkeep, organization, and general maintenance of the softball field, equipment, and related facilities.

• Ensure compliance with all TSSAA, conference, and school board policies and procedures.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.

• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators.

• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Johnson County Schools both on and off campus.
