Bowling Green, Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track and Field.   This is a full-time, 12-month position.    This position reports directly to the Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country programs.  Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities : The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive.  Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

 

Coach practice sessions and workouts; assist with coaching responsibilities during athletics events; attend coaches' preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings.

Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport, and maintain thorough and continual familiarity with all applicable University, Conference USA, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Scout for and recruit quality student-athletes and coordinate recruiting activities with the head coach and other coaches.

Assist in the implementation of the academic program, including the monitoring of individual student-athlete's progress to ensure academic eligibility, the enforcement of study and tutorial programs, and referral to appropriate University academic resources.

Work with student-athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, appearance, and behavior.

Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Must be self-motivated.

Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to do event set-ups.

The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation and customer service.

NCAA, Conference USA and WKU policies and procedures must be kept in mind at all times. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

Minimum two years' experience coaching in the sport.
