The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for the position of Women’s Basketball Social Assistant and Content Creator.

Responsibilities will include serving as one of the program’s primary content creators and strategists, satisfying all external and internal needs.

This position will help lead creative strategy meetings with key team stakeholders, maintain the team’s social content calendar, and create engaging social media and vertical video content for the program. The successful candidate must possess working knowledge in the area of social media account management, content capture and graphic design. Will work most closely with the Women’s Basketball director of communications, as well as the Women’s Basketball staff and departmental creative content unit with the objective of enhancing UConn Women’s Basketball presence on social media platforms and in recruiting. Demonstrated experience creating creative content for a collegiate or professional sports team is recommended. This position will be responsible for managing and posting social content for team contests, practices, recruiting and events.

The successful candidate should be highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, collaborative, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments involving immediate attention. Must be willing to be a collaborative member of the staff and be an active participant in Women’s Basketball pod and creative content brainstorming meetings. The successful candidate should be open to working irregular hours, as many of the duties of this position will include coverage of athletics contests, events, recruiting shoots and team practices. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience in the athletics creative content field while a student; bachelor’s degree in communications, sports management, photography or related field; Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; experience with social media content management; ability to demonstrate experience creating content for a collegiate or professional sports organization; outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal; proven ability to multitask effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines; and proficiency in utilization of social media management software.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of post-grad experience working in a collegiate athletics department or professional sports organization; experience leading and developing a team of student interns; experience with content ideation; experience working directly with coaches and recruiting.
