Volunteer Girls Volleyball Coach

Position: Volunteer Girls Volleyball Coach
Season Duration: Fall 2026 (approximately August�November 2026)
Location: Housatonic Valley Regional High School
Compensation: Volunteer position - Unpaid

Overview:
Region One School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Girls Volleyball Coach to support the Girls Volleyball program during the Fall 2026 season.

Working under the direction of the Athletic Director and coaching staff, the Volunteer Coach will assist with practices, games, and other team activities while helping to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for student-athletes.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include:

• Assist the coaching staff with practices, drills, games, and team activities;
• Support the development of student-athletes' volleyball skills and understanding of the game;
• Reinforce coaching instruction and expectations established by the coaching staff;
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and positive behavior;
• Assist with the setup and organization of equipment and practice areas;
• Help maintain a safe and supportive environment for student-athletes;
• Follow all Region One School District policies, athletic department procedures, and applicable CIAC requirements; and
• Perform other volleyball-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or coaching staff.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet all applicable requirements for serving as a volunteer coach, which may include:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• CPR and First Aid certification;
• Completion of required concussion training;
• Completion of required sudden cardiac arrest awareness training;
• Appropriate Connecticut coaching permit, if required for the assignment;
• Successful completion of required fingerprinting and background checks; and
• Completion of all other District and state-required training and documentation.
• Previous volleyball playing or coaching experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

The position may require the ability to:

• Move throughout the volleyball court and practice areas;
• Demonstrate or assist with volleyball drills and activities;
• Remain standing for extended periods during practices and games;
• Occasionally lift and move athletic equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds; and
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff.
