Summary
Lakewood High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Varsity Softball program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing the skills of players, promoting teamwork, and instilling a sense of sportsmanship and discipline. This position requires a commitment to the growth and success of the program both on and off the field.
Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct regular practices, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth among student-athletes.
- Collaborate with athletic department staff, parents, and the community to promote the program and encourage student participation.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations and policies.
- Maintain open communication with players, parents, and school administration regarding team goals, expectations, and any relevant issues.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in softball.
- Strong knowledge of the game of softball, including rules, strategies, and player development.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or the willingness to obtain certification.
