Job Summary
Gooding High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Varsity Softball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires collaboration with school administration, athletic staff, and parents to promote the program and ensure the development of players both on and off the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective practice plans and strategies to enhance team performance.
- Conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and manage all aspects of the varsity softball program, including scheduling games and practices.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and commitment.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations.
- Monitor student-athlete academic performance and promote a balance between athletics and education.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to ensure a cohesive coaching approach.
- Scout and evaluate opposing teams to prepare for competitions.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, district regulations, and league rules.
- Participate in fundraising and community engagement activities to support the softball program.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in softball.
- Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
- A commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
