SUMMARY:
Step up to the plate! We’re hiring a Varsity Softball Head Coach to lead our talented squad. We need a motivator, a tactician, and a role model who can command the field and elevate our program. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Varsity Head Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the varsity athletic program for their assigned sport. This includes leading student-athletes in skill development, competition, and personal growth while upholding the values and expectations of the athletic department and school district.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following set of criteria must be met for the employee to receive payment
- Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for the varsity team
- Collaborate with and evaluate lower-level (JV and freshman/middle school) coaches to ensure program alignment and development across all levels
- Complete MHSAA or other relevant officials’ ratings in a timely manner
- Submit individual and team recognitions and nominations to appropriate state or league associations
- Coordinate and host an end-of-season awards banquet to recognize team and individual achievements
- Complete a thorough self-assessment of coaching performance and submit it to the Athletic Director
- Return all uniforms, equipment, and other issued items in good condition by the specified deadline
- Submit an off-season calendar outlining conditioning, training opportunities, and recommended activities for athletes
- Maintain regular communication with the Athletic Director regarding program needs, concerns, and updates
- Engage in positive communication with athletes, parents, and the school community
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public
- Professional discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology, procedures, and district priorities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous softball coaching experience preferred
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of MHSAA rules and regulations
- Ability to motivate and work effectively with students of varying skill levels
- Must meet all district employment and background check requirements
WORK ENVIRONMENT and CONDITIONS
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substances in the workplace throughout their employment in the District

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy
COMPENSATION:
Per Schedule B of the BDEA Bargaining Agreement, payable at the completion of providing evidence of duties, with approval from the immediate supervisor
