Softball Umpire- Adult Slow-Pitch

Are you passionate about sports and recreation? Have knowledge of slow pitch and/or fast pitch Softball. Then join our team As a Seasonal Softball Umpire. you'll have the exciting opportunity to oversee games and ensure that our Adult Softball league runs smoothly.

With a pay rate of $30.00 per hour w/certification/training. $20.00 per hour w/o certification/training, this onsite position offers a chance to be part of a vibrant recreational sports community. Join us for a summer of fun and sportsmanship! Hours (vary) Monday -Thursday, 6-11pm starting April 13, 2026.

Duties

• Officiate Cedar City Recreation adult slow-pitch softball games.
• Arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
• Check all equipment conditions for safety hazards, including grounds/fields.
• Conduct a pre-game meeting with each team manager/captain before the game and review game rules, unusual circumstances, and local field hazards.
• Remain unbiased while umpiring the contest and will make verbal contact with the coaches as necessary.
• Keep track of game time and score

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in officiating softball is preferred, but open to those with no experience.
• Provide own transportation to and from assigned game location.

Skills

• Knowledge of softball (slow-pitch and/or fast-pitch) and its rules (USSSA, USA, or ASA)
• Ability to work independently or with a team
• Self-motivated
• Good decision making skills
• Ability to deal with teams, coaches and the public in a professional manner
• Must have good game management skills

Physical Demand

• Ability to run for extended periods of time while officiating.
• Work is performed outdoors.
