Seasonal - Assistant Athletic Trainer, AUSL (All Team Locations)

In June 2025, Athletes Unlimited launched Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), a premier professional women’s softball league that models traditional “city-based” leagues (e.g. WNBA and NWSL) with commensurate operations and commercial activities. The five-year goal is to grow AUSL aggressively by adding additional teams in 2026 and beyond, converting to a fully city-based model, bringing in team owners, and building out ancillary business, fan, and partner engagement opportunities.

Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is  hiring an Assistant Athletic Trainer to help oversee the medical operations of the league and ensure all players receive individualized care to optimize performance. This position is a seasonal role and reports directly to the Head Athletic Trainer for AUSL. 

Responsibilities

• Assists with all daily medical service aspects including the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses of AUSL athletes
• Serves as the second athletic trainer with direct coverage of a designated team, including travel
• Provides first aid and emergency care for athletic-related injuries and determines appropriate medical referral as warranted
• Assists with Pre-participation Physical Exams annually
• Inventories and monitors all supply consumption and equipment used for a designated team
• Maintains accurate and confidential injury record management for all applicable injuries and illnesses, including updating and presenting injury report records when required
• Collaborates with the Head AT and Strength & Conditioning staff to ensure proper conditioning modifications in the presence of injury and a safe effective return to sport
• Creates individualized rehabilitation programs for injured athletes and progresses them when appropriate according to physician recommendations
• Maintains open communication and professional relationships with team physicians and other local medical professionals to ensure optimal player health and performance throughout the season
• Ability to effectively listen to athlete’s needs/concerns and determine appropriate referral to mental health resources when applicable
• Adhere to all Athletes Unlimited and AUSL policies and procedures including Health and Safety Protocols, medical documentation systems, and sports betting and anti-discrimination policies

• Minimum of 2 years in a professional sports setting as a Head and/or Assistant Athletic Trainer, or equivalent high level collegiate experience
• Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or similar field is required 
• Current and active NATABOC certification and eligible for state licensure is required 
• Current CPR, AED certification is required 
• Other preferred credentials and certifications include: Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Dry Needling, IASTM or similar, CPR Instructor certification
• Experience working directly with female athletes including but not limited to sport coverage of softball (baseball and or other AU Pro Sports preferred)

• Extensive knowledge of sports and health related medical issues and appropriate treatment options
• Proficient in managing and executing emergency medical care
• Ability to think critically and make logical decisions under times of stress, pressure, and time constraints; must be able to prioritize and effectively multitask as needed
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

• Round Rock, TX
• Salt Lake City, UT
• Must be available from May 24, 2026 - July 28, 2026 (dates are subject to change)
• Ability to travel and work weekends/non-traditional work hours 
• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

The rate for this position is $18,000/season.

As this is a seasonal position, traditional employee benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans are not included.
