    REPORTS TO:    Athletic Director PAY SCALE:    SVS Assistant/MS Coaching Stipend

     

    PURPOSE: Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director, to assist in managing and supervising all specific activities of the Siletz Valley Schools girls middle school volleyball program, including student-athlete supervision, event logistics, certification compliance, and equipment management, for the 2026-2027 school year.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The following are examples of duties. However, any one position may not cover all duties listed; examples may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform; and other duties may be assigned.

    • Assists and supervises the athletic team for events, both home and away, for Siletz Valley Schools.
    • Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling team events for the season and offseason program.
    • Assists in the set up and take down of home events.
    • Manages NFHS certification and first aid certification to ensure they remain current.
    • Assists in managing and alerting parents and players of sports physicals dates to assure compliance.
    • Obtains and maintains Bus 20 certification for extracurricular transportation of student-athletes.
    • Manages student behavior effectively in accordance with the building behavior policy.
    • Maintains, stores, and retrieves information in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using standard office systems, equipment, and software.
    • Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the school/building's discipline and instructional program.
    • Maintains equipment inventory and program needs.
    • Obtains specialized training as required.

    • Observes laws, district policies and procedures, and professional standards for the position.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with school personnel, parents, students, and the public; works collaboratively as a team member.
    • Maintains confidential school and student information in accordance with FERPA.
    • Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, difficult situations, interruptions, and new or emergency conditions.
    • Develops job skills necessary to meet changes in the position.
    • Attends work regularly.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Education and/or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
    • Language Skills:  Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and staff.
    • Computer Skills:  Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
    • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to organize, coordinate, schedule, and perform sport-specific duties as assigned for school needs, and to multi-task efficiently.
    • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  NFHS coaching certification and current first aid/CPR certification. Bus 20 certification for transportation of student-athletes. Other certificates as determined by SVS.
    • Interpersonal Skills:  Self-starter with an efficient work ethic and a friendly personality. Ability to maintain confidential school and student information (FERPA). Ability to manage and input student data, and to maintain inventory management skills. Knowledge of district organization, operations, policies, and objectives.

    • Required to talk, hear and listen in conversations/meetings.
    • Frequently required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or bend for extended periods, indoors and outdoors, during practices and games.
    • Required to use hands, fingers and arms to handle, feel and reach.
    • Must regularly lift and/or move athletic equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
    • Works in gymnasium, athletic field, and standard school building environments, including travel to away events.

    BENEFITS: SVS coaching stipend of range of $1,500 to $2,400.00 per year depending on experience. Specific start date and salary may be subject to change upon approval of the school calendar.
